The Lichfield 10K Road Race is an annual race organised and promoted by Lichfield Running Club (LRC) and has been subject to only minor alterations since its start in September 1996. 2022 saw the adoption of an entirely new route due to the impact of HS2 on the original route.
The 2024 event will take place on 8th September. The 10k race will start at 10:30.
The race is supported by Lichfield District Council and other local bodies. There is also a Fun Run of approximately 2 km.
The 10K race is limited to a minimum age of 18 years and is run strictly under UKA rules. It is over a measured course and is chip timed to the highest standards.
The Fun Run is specifically aimed at all those runners that do not wish to take part in the more challenging10 km route. The Fun Run starts at 09:30 and is approximately 2 km. The route is entirely within the boundary of Beacon Park. It is not restricted to any age group. The results are not recorded except for the first male and female to finish. The course is not measured.
The race normally attracts a good level of spectators around the course. The new 10k route is predominantly on country lanes therefore most spectators are expected at the start/finish area in and adjacent to Beacon Park, there are also likely to be spectators at the half way point in Chorley.
