This is a race for runners organised by runners
The route has been designed to allow runners to start and finish in our beautiful city where there is plenty of parking available and access to the many cafes and shops that the city offers. We meet in the race ‘village’ which is in Lichfield’s historic Beacon Park, here you will find a great atmosphere prior to the race, with all you need to prepare.
The 10k race and Fun Run attract a good level of spectators. The 10k route is predominantly on country lanes therefore most spectators are expected at the start/finish area in and adjacent to Beacon Park, there are also likely to be spectators at the half way point in Chorley. Spectators for the Fun Run can watch at any point on the course.
The 10K race is limited to a minimum age of 18 years and is run strictly under UKA rules, this means only bone conductor headphones will be allowed. It is over a certified measured course and is chip timed to the highest standards.
The 10k Route
The Lichfield 10k is a hilly course so please be prepared! You will start at 10:30 adjacent to Beacon Park on the Lichfield western bypass road. This offers a very wide, flat, and open start for the first km allowing time for runners to space out and get into their running rhythm and pace. The route then turns into a series of rural lanes which wind out to Chorley village – it’s on this section where you will find a series of five hills before heading to a fast downhill section to the finish in Beacon Park. Full route details shown here: Lichfield 10K & Fun Run route maps
The Fun Run Route
The Fun Run is a route which is entirely within the boundary of Beacon Park. It’s a 2km course which is well marshalled and has its own dedicated start and finish. It commences at 09:30 so it’s possible to witness your child competing in the Fun Run before competing in the 10k yourself. The Fun Run is not restricted to any age group but any child under 9 years must be accompanied by an adult who must also enter the race.
